Overend highlights the importance of capital investment

Ulster Unionist Party Economy spokesperson, Sandra Overend has called for more money to be made available for capital projects in light of a new report into HMG’s economic policies by the Institute for Public Policy Research.

Sandra said:

“The findings of the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) report into HMG’s economic policies highlights the importance of capital investment for the economy.  The report recommends that current austerity measures are not working, and backs up calls from the likes of Boris Johnson for more money to be spent on capital projects.’

“It is important that we look at this report in a Northern Ireland context.  To get our economy on the road to recovery it is vital that we are provided with sufficient funds for capital projects such as hospitals, schools and infrastructure.’

“The Ulster Unionist Party has the leading role in a number of capital projects which are integral to our economy through the Department of Regional Development and we are committed to delivering them.’
