Copeland supports 25th anniversary of Playboard “Playday”

The Ulster Unionist Party’s Social Development spokesperson Michael Copeland MLA has attended  an event hosted by Playboard to highlight the 25th anniversary of its “Playday”, the national day for play in the United Kingdom.

Mr Copeland  said:

‘I was only too pleased to attend the Playday event in North Belfast which was one of hundreds which took place across the UK involving half a million children and was designed to raise awareness about a child’s right to play and the importance of play for children’s health, well being and happiness.

The street play event which I attended provided children with the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities including skipping, kite making and arts and crafts and all present clearly enjoyed themselves.

It is essential that Government and society does all it can to ensure that our children and young people have safe areas in which to play and it is essential that the Play and Leisure Strategy continues to be implemented. I support the work being done by Playboard to this end.”
