The Ulster Unionist Party’s sports spokesperson Robin Swann MLA has congratulated Coleraine rower Alan Campbell on winning a Bronze medal at the London 2012 Olympics.
North Antrim representative Mr Swann said:
‘Once again it is my pleasure to welcome Northern Ireland success at the London Olympics as Alan Campbell delivered a tremendous performance in the single sculls and won a richly deserved Bronze medal.
Watching Alan being interviewed at the end of the race it was clear just how a great a physical ordeal the race had been and just how proud Alan was to come from Northern Ireland.
His line “another medal for our wee country, I’m proud to be from there” will live long in the memory.
I can assure Alan that today this wee country is very proud of him too.”
