Empey shocked at Army decision to remove Ulster Flag at Camp Bastion

Ulster Unionist Peer Lord Empey has said he was shocked by the Army's decision to remove an Ulster flag at Camp Bastion in Afghanistan.'

'While soldiers risk their lives for their country, it has been traditional for numerous flags from all parts of the United Kingdom to be displayed at various locations near the battlefield. I cannot understand the reasoning for the attack on the Ulster flag while soldiers are serving in the area and some have paid a very high price for doing so.'

'I have written to the Ministry of Defence seeking an explanation for the actions of the Army and urged them to reconsider this perverse decision.'
