Nesbitt shocked at Foster admission re FG Wilson and corporation tax

Ulster Unionist Leader Mike Nesbitt has expressed his shock at the admission on a radio programme by the Economy Minister Arlene Foster that she does not know if a lower rate of Corporation Tax would have made any difference to the FG Wilson announcement that 760 jobs are to be lost.

The Strangford MLA said

“Arlene Foster sits on the Executive sub-committee which has been in negotiations with the UK Treasury regarding the devolution of corporation tax varying powers to Stormont. She was asked a direct question on BBC Radio Ulster Talkback and admitted she did not know if a lower rate would have made any difference.

It is unbelievable that the Minister responsible had not even asked our 12th largest private sector company their opinion on corporation tax.

What does she do all day? Who advises her? Why is she not listening to the private sector?”
