Vice Chair of the Education Committee, Danny Kinahan MLA has called on the Department of Education to act quickly to ensure that the problems that have arisen with school computerised test procedures do not occur again.
The Ulster Unionist said:
“There has been much confusion in recent days as primary schools across the country have been facing problems with the NINA and NILS computerised tests. Many hours that should have been spent on teaching were instead wasted on attempts to solve the technical problems with the assessment system.’
“Adding to the situation was the confusion over whether or not the tests were going to be pulled until the problem was resolved. If we are going to introduce new testing systems into our schools it is vital that they are given a proper pilot run to ensure all potential problems are identified. We cannot afford to have such uncertainty in our education system over testing procedures.’
“It is imperative that the Department of Education quickly takes the appropriate steps to ensure this does not happen again.’
