Kinahan Congratulates Carrickfergus College on “phenomenal” exam success

Ulster Unionist Education spokesperson, Danny Kinahan MLA has congratulated the pupils of Carrickfergus College on maintaining the school’s high record of academic success on their visit to Stormont today.

Danny, who is also Vice-Chair of the Education Committee said:

“ I warmly congratulate pupils at Carrickfergus College on achieving 100% pass rate in two or more A levels, and the fact that this high record of achievement has been upheld for more than 11 years now.  It is all down to the hard work and determination of the pupils, parents and school staff.  The fact that they continue to raise the school’s academic standards is a credit to that hard work.’

“In addition Carrickfergus College also attained a pass rate of 65% in its GCSE results this year, for pupils getting five or more GCSE exam grades A*- C. This is up from 42% in 2010 and places the College amongst the highest attaining non-selective schools in Northern Ireland.’

“I was delighted to get the chance to congratulate some of the school’s top achievers at Stormont.  They are a credit to their school and community and I wish them every success in the future.”
