Copeland welcomes review of report into Children’s Heart Services

Ulster Unionist East Belfast MLA, Michael Copeland has welcomed a review of 2010 Kennedy Report into Children`s Heart Services

Following Westminster Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt`s announcement of a review of the Kennedy Report, Michael commented,

“I spent last Friday afternoon in the Clark Clinic at the Royal Victoria Hospital for Sick Children. I met patients, parents and staff and I was struck by the love, care and compassion shown. The Clark Clinic is the only one of its kind in Northern Ireland and after publication of the 2010 Kennedy Report and the subsequent review of the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children it was concluded that the service was `not sustainable`.

I hope that Jeremy Hunt`s announcement to carry out the review into the 2010 Kennedy Report will secure the future of the provision of children`s congenital heart services in Northern Ireland.”
