Swann welcomes Ballymoney transport investment

Ulster Unionist North Antrim MLA Robin Swann has welcomed the official opening of the Greenway project in Ballymoney at a cost of £1.3 million.

Mr Swann said:

“This project represents a major investment in Ballymoney by my Ulster Unionist colleague, the Transport Minister Danny Kennedy.

His Department provided £900,000 towards the overall cost of the scheme which included a new pedestrian and cycle bridge at Ballymoney railway Station marking the completion of the Greenway Project.

I am confident that this project will deliver important benefits for the people of Ballymoney and district via improved and safer access between Castlecroft and the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre.

It will replace the unmanned level crossing and commuters and rail users will also benefit from extended park and ride facilities at the station with an additional 60 spaces which will be welcomed by those who make a quarter of a million passenger journeys to or from Ballymoney station each year.”
