Hussey cautions MLAs against seeking disclosure of information of use to Terrorists

Ulster Unionist Policing spokesman and Policing Board member Ross Hussey MLA has cautioned against MLA's seeking to make public, information which may be of use to terrorists.

The West Tyrone MLA said:

"At Stormont this week DUP MLA Alex Easton asked a number of questions of the Justice Minister namely;

To ask the Minister of Justice how many Prison Officers have applied for personal protection weapons because of dissident republican threats.

To ask the Minister of Justice how many Prison Officers have applied for bullet proof windows because of dissident republican threats.

It may well be that Mr Easton does not have the level of situational awareness that those who served in the security forces have but surely there is someone in the DUP who could point out that the questions asked by Mr Easton are precisely those asked by terrorists when preparing targeting profiles.

If it is vital (though I fail to see why) that Mr Easton has this information then he should seek a private meeting with the Minister. It is not just prison officers, police officers and other potential targets who must be aware of the threat, the rest of society has a responsibility to protect those who protect us."
