Violence, threats and intimidation not the way to show discontent over flag decision

North Down MLA, Leslie Cree has condemned an attack on the family home of two Alliance Party Councillors in Bangor and on the constituency office of Stephen Farry MLA in the town.

The Ulster Unionist said:

“I unreservedly condemn the attacks that took place in Bangor last night.  I would plead for calm in the town before this situation spirals out of control and someone is seriously injured.’

“The attack on the home of two Alliance Party councillors is particularly chilling when you consider that a young child lives there.  It is beyond comprehension that anyone would consider violence as a means of promoting their cause.’

“My Party leader has already stated that ‘what unionism needs is brains, not brawn’.  I understand that people are angry about the decision taken to remove the flag at Belfast City Hall, but peaceful protest and political debate is the way to show your discontent at this decision, not violence, threats or intimidation.’
