Ulster Unionist Leader, Mike Nesbitt MLA, has condemned Sinn Fein, the SDLP and Alliance Party for boycotting today’s meeting of the NI Assembly Commission.
“At a time when people are calling for respect for democracy, and democratic decisions, it is a matter of regret that these parties did not fulfil their obligations regarding the body that makes all the key decisions that keep the Assembly running.’
“I sat last night listening to the Chief Constable say that the single most important thing politicians could do is speak with one voice. Yet within 24 hours, we have a split which I think sends out entirely the wrong message.’
“Political leadership means doing the difficult things, and at this moment, one of the most difficult challenges is to help stop the violence and address the underlying anger and issues. That can only be achieved through dialogue.”
