Kennedy reiterates call on Irish Government to acknowledge and apologise for its failure to prevent murder of so many at the hands of republican terrorists

A roadside service to remember the Kingsmills massacre was held on Saturday 5th January 2013. It was attended by many people including Ulster Unionist Assembly member and Regional Development Minister, Danny Kennedy MLA.

Mr Kennedy, who is from Bessbrook, said, “The anniversary always evoked very powerful emotions within the local community. I pay tribute to the relatives and families of Kingsmills, and the sole survivor Alan Black, for their dignity and resilience over the 37 difficult years since the atrocity.’

“I remain steadfast in support of the campaign by relatives to obtain maximum justice against those republicans who perpetrated the massacre of the ten innocent workmen. I will continue the battle for recognition and for an acknowledgement and apology from the Government of the Irish Republic for its abysmal failure to prevent the murder of so many individuals in South Armagh, including Kingsmills, at the hands of republican terrorists.’
