McGimpsey challenges DCAL Minister on “upside down” accounting

Ulster Unionist Culture Spokesperson Michael McGimpsey has expressed his concerns over the budget for the North/South Language Body as well as his disappointment at the lack of detail in a statement delivered to the Assembly on Tuesday by the Culture Minister Caral Ni Cuillin.

The South Belfast MLA said;

‘Tuesday’s statement from the Minister was alarming for a number of reasons. Firstly, there was a real lack of detail with no mention of waterways as is usually the case. This does call into question the necessity of some of the North South Ministerial Council meetings which are taking place.’

‘I was also particularly concerned at the fact that the Language Body Business Plan and Budget for 2012 has only just been approved despite the fact we are now into the subsequent year. This is not acceptable and it appears the Minister is getting her accountancy arrangements upside down.”
