Dobson Praises Nicholson on NIFDA Outstanding Contribution Award

Ulster Unionist Agriculture Spokesperson Jo-Anne Dobson MLA has praised her party colleague Jim Nicholson MEP on winning the Ulster Bank Outstanding Contribution to the NI Food and Drink Industry at the recent Northern Ireland Food and Drinks Association Awards.

The winners of the NIFDA Awards 2013 were announced recently at a prestigious ceremony in the Ramada Hotel, Belfast.

Praising her former boss Jim Nicholson MEP, Mrs Dobson said: “This award recognises the wealth of knowledge and experience Jim has when it comes to standing up for the Northern Ireland’s farmers and the agricultural industry.

“Now, more than ever, it is crucial for the future of the Northern Ireland Economy that we have an experienced and respected MEP, like Jim, representing us in Europe.  The negotiations on CAP Reform are at an advanced stage, and Jim’s position as a member of Agriculture Committee and Rapporteur, or Chief Representative, for the Dairy Industry enable him to speak loudly on behalf of Northern Ireland farmers.

“Jim's depth of knowledge and support for the Industry is unrivalled.  I had the privilege of managing his successful Election Campaign in 2009 and I am really looking forward to his European Election Campaign next year.

“I was delighted to nominate Jim as our Party’s candidate for the next European Elections secure in the knowledge that, once re-elected, he will build upon his stellar reputation and continue to rise to meet the future challenges which our farmers and the industry will face.”

“This Award recognises his outstanding contributions on behalf of the local industry, and we can all be certain there will be plenty more to come!”
