Corporation Tax decision has potential to be a game-changer for Northern Ireland - Overend

Ulster Unionist Economy spokesperson, Sandra Overend MLA is looking forward to a positive decision about the devolution of corporation tax varying powers to Northern Ireland.

Mrs Overend said, “Today`s meeting is crucial. I thought this decision would have been made a considerable time ago. We seem to be in perpetual discussions, but hopefully we have now reached decision time. This has the potential to be a “game-changer” for Northern Ireland`s economy.

“Northern Ireland is lagging behind the rest of UK and the devolution of corporation tax varying powers will be an invaluable means of attracting inward investment and stimulating local business. Given the recent reduction in the corporation tax rate announced in the budget, the Prime Minister clearly appreciates how this has the potential to help the economy.

“Northern Ireland`s economy needs a kick-start. I really hope that the local representatives can bring home the goods. The future capability of our economy is in their hands as they lobby the Prime Minister at this crucial meeting.”
