The Ulster Unionist Party is calling on Minister of State, Mike Penning MP, to clarify his assertion that Executive Ministers failed to accept his invitation to join his Working Group looking at support for the armed forces and veterans.
Unionist Leader, Mike Nesbitt MLA, said: “I have checked with DRD Minister, Danny Kennedy, and he is adamant that no such invitation was issued to him.
“This is doubly disappointing, given the amount of time we as a Party have spent with the Minister discussing these issues. We are supportive of the introduction of the Armed Forces Covenant in Northern Ireland, and Mr Penning can be in no doubt of our stance.
“I call on him to make clear who, if anyone, on the Executive was sent an invitation to the Working Group, and to further confirm that no invitation was issued to Danny Kennedy.”
