Petition in support of Westlands Care Home to be presented to the Health Minister by Sandra Overend MLA

Sandra Overend, Ulster Unionist Assembly Member for Mid-Ulster, will present a petition of 4892 signatures in support of Westlands Care Home in Cookstown to the Health Minister in Plenary on Monday.

Mrs Overend said:

“This petition was organised by Opportunities for Older People, Cookstown (known as Cookstown 040), over the period of two weeks. It was an amazing effort by so many local people in a short space of time. We must thank all the local businesses and community groups who helped obtain so many signatures.

“I hope that the Health Minister will take note of this petition and consider the views of residents, their families and local people so that we don`t end up with another debacle which previously caused such distress and annoyance.”

The Chairperson, Margaret Gilbert, members of Cookstown 040 and some residents of Westlands Care Home will be present in the Public Gallery to see the petition being presented. All plan to attend the Unison "Friends of Care Homes" event in the Senate Chamber afterwards.
