Ulster Unionist praise for Londonderry and Limavady Show

Ulster Unionist politicians have praised the ‘hard work and dedication’ of the County Londonderry Agricultural Show Society following the massive success of this year’s Show held recently at Aghanloo, Limavady.

Commenting Ulster Unionist MEP Jim Nicholson said: “Yet again Londonderry and Limavady Society have put on a superb event and the sun shone down on us throughout the day.

“It was great to get the opportunity to chat with the organisers, exhibitors and spectators who are all richly deserving of praise for a terrific show in what is a picturesque location on the north coast.

“Everyone who attended, including those who came from the far ends of Northern Ireland received a warm welcome to an event which occupies a prime position in the agricultural show calendar.

“Days like these help to attract visitors from far and wide and keep alive a sense of belonging and pride in our countryside and our farming and rural communities.”

Ulster Unionist Agriculture spokesperson Jo-Anne Dobson said: “It was clear that so much hard work and preparation had gone on beforehand to prepare all the animals for the show and it was evident as judging took place that everyone had a huge sense of pride in their animals.

“I was also pleased to join with the ladies of the Aghanloo WI as they presented knitted matinee jackets to the Western Trust.  It was lovely to take time to walk around the Home Industries tent and see first-hand the dedication of the exhibitors – well done to all the entrants.”

Mrs Dobson concluded: “I would encourage as many people as possible from across Northern Ireland to support the season of Agricultural Shows as they help to bring a fantastic boost to our local farming industry.”
