Nicholson welcomes EU funding for Translink

Ulster Unionist MEP Jim Nicholson has welcomed Translink’s recent investment of £5.8million from the European Sustainable Competitiveness Programme for Northern Ireland.

Mr Nicholson said, “I am delighted to hear that this investment from the EU has been secured. This £5.8million will go a long way towards meeting the cost of the 53 buses and coaches recently purchased by Translink; the investment will cover 39 Goldline buses and 14 metro buses.

“I am also pleased to hear that parts of this contract will be going to Wrightbus in Ballymena. As an MEP it is always great to see an EU investment benefitting the economy and local jobs in Northern Ireland.”
