Elliott urges public to assist PSNI in solving murder of teenager 40 years ago in Aughnacloy

Ulster Unionist Justice spokesperson Tom Elliott MLA has urged the public to come forward with any information which could lead to the conviction of the person who murdered a young teenager (Marian Beattie) at Haddens Quarry in Aughnacloy over 40 years ago.

Tom said;

“My Ulster Unionist colleague, Councillor Jim Hamilton recalls the event and trusts that the family of the young girl can receive some form of closure and justice. Councillor Jim Hamilton and his wife Jean attended the charity dance at Hadden’s which was in aid of Save the Children and were not aware of the murder until the following morning.

“The entire local community of Aughnacloy were shocked to learn of the murder and despite exhaustive enquiries by the police, no one was ever arrested. Someone could have information which could assist the police with their investigations and would urge them to contact Crimestoppers on 08 0055 5111.”
