Ulster Unionist Leader, Mike Nesbitt MLA, has congratulated local production company Below the Radar, for their success in winning a prestigious EMMY award for their work on the HBO film documentary Mia Maxima Culpa.
The Strangford Assembly Member said: “We tend to associate HBO with the fictional world of Game of Thrones, but here we have something as raw and real as the clerical abuse of children under proper journalistic examination. It does great credit to Below the Radar and local journalism and production skills that they have received this internationally coveted award.
“We rightly put great store in the potential of the Creative Industries to grow the local economy, and here is an example of home grown brilliance. People like Trevor Birney and Chris Moore have worked tirelessly to bring a proper public spotlight to clerical abuse and this award does justice to the importance of continuing to shine a light into this dark and shameful area.”
