Ulster Unionist Councillor Chris McGimpsey has expressed his sympathies to those caught up in the serious traffic accident on the Woodstock Road in east Belfast shortly after midday today.
Councillor McGimpsey, who was in the area at the time and who visited the scene shortly after the incident, said:
“What occurred today appears to have been a tragic accident. I would obviously like to wish a speedy recovery to the families of the four people who were injured.
I would also like to pay tribute to the actions of both local people and the emergency services who sought to assist and treat the injured in the aftermath.
I know from speaking to local people that this incident came as a great shock to what is a close-knit community and I know that the same community will provide support to those who were injured and their families in the days and weeks ahead.”
