Ulster Unionists call for the restoration of Tullyally Community Centre and more action against drug taking and anti-social behaviour in the area

The Ulster Unionist Party’s Foyle Constituency Chairman, Ronnie McKeegan has called for the re-opening of Tullyally Community Centre and for more action to be taken to combat drug-taking and anti-social behaviour amongst young people in the area.

Mr McKeegan said:

“This morning (Friday) I received a phone call from a concerned resident of Tullyally, regarding on-going problems with anti-social behaviour and drug taking around the disused Community Centre in the area.

On my arrival I was horrified to find homemade drug pipes and the remains of drug taking paraphernalia. I contacted the PSNI and the Community Safety Wardens and received assurances that patrols in the area will be stepped up.

It must be said that the continued closure of the Centre is not helping the local community move forward or indeed the young people who have found themselves caught up in this drug taking nightmare.

The Ulster Unionist Party in Londonderry will continue to press City Council to have this much needed facility brought back into community use as soon as possible, for the benefit of all in Tullyally and the surrounding area.”
