Ulster Unionist Education spokesperson and Vice Chair of the Education Committee, Danny Kinahan MLA, has urged the Department of Education and Belfast Education and Library Board (BELB) to put pupils before process and let the 200 pupils at Hazelwood Integrated College back into their classrooms whilst they resolve the paperwork.
Mr Kinahan said:
“The Department of Education and the Belfast Education and Library Board need to put pupils before process and get the 200 pupils of Hazelwood Integrated College back into the classroom as soon as possible.
“The Department and the Board should open the classrooms and let the pupils in whilst they resolve the paperwork. Time is of the essence and the pupils can`t afford to be locked out of the classroom for a day longer. They didn`t create this mess so they shouldn`t have to suffer its consequences.”
