Roy Beggs MLA has welcomed a statement from the Health Minister on child sexual exploitation in Northern Ireland.
The Ulster Unionist Health spokesperson said:
“Northern Ireland has been shocked to its core by the recent revelations of sexual exploitation of children. The statement from the Health Minister outlining his plans to deal with this situation is very welcome.
“I would reiterate my call to the Minister to appoint the independent expert who will lead the Inquiry as quickly as possible to enable work to get underway. It is vital that the effectiveness of current procedures are given the appropriate scrutiny as soon as possible to ensure children in care are being afforded the maximum protection and to help restore public confidence."
