Hussey attends Police National Memorial Service in Cardiff

Ross Hussey MLA, the Ulster Unionist Policing Board Member, attended the Police National Memorial service in St David's Hall, Cardiff on Sunday accompanied by colleagues in the RUCGC Association from Omagh and Fermanagh.

Mr Hussey said:

'This year is the 10th anniversary of the Police National Memorial event and we were proud to see that the Patron of the organisation HRH The Prince of Wales was in attendance. The event recognises the service of all police forces throughout the United Kingdom.’

“Those who have lost their lives whilst serving the community as police officers are remembered.  At the service this year we from Northern Ireland especially remembered PSNI Constable Philippa Reynolds who lost her life in a Road Traffic Accident in Londonderry.’

“I was proud to have served in the Royal Ulster Constabulary GC, and I was delighted to be present at this event to remember all my former colleagues who lost their lives in service to the Northern Ireland community.  Next year the National Police Memorial service will be held in Belfast and I look forward to being there with many of my former colleagues'

Mr Richard Scott, the Chair of the RUC GC Association in Omagh said:

“It was an honour for my former colleagues and I to attend this service in the presence of HRH The Prince of Wales.  As Ross has said we go to remember our fallen comrades and the link with our colleagues in other British Police forces is always strengthened by such an event.’
