Ulster Unionists condemn recent spate of bomb attacks and alerts

The Ulster Unionist party has condemned the recent spate of bomb attacks and alerts, primarily in the Belfast area.

East Belfast MLA Michael Copeland said;

“There has recently been a spate of bomb attacks and alerts in various parts of the City of Belfast, including one today on the Upper Newtownards Road near offices belonging to the Alliance Party.

The Ulster Unionist Party condemns each and every one of these attacks, wherever they occur and whoever is responsible.

People want to move on, they want to focus on issues such as jobs, housing, education, improving our health service and bringing up their families in a normal environment.

Those groups or individuals who are still wedded to the past and who choose to plant devices, whether real or hoax, or to engage in violence of any kind, have no role to play in the democratic and peaceful society and future which we are striving to build.

They must cease their activities and get off the backs of the people who bear the brunt of these attacks and the disruption they cause. Anyone who can assist the Police to apprehend those responsible for any of these incidents should contact the Police at once.”
