South Antrim Ulster Unionist MLA Danny Kinahan has welcomed the news that the North Eastern Education & Library Board has voted to delay a decision on the closure of Crumlin Integrated College.
Mr Kinahan, who is vice Chair of the Stormont Education committee, said:
“Last week when it was revealed that Crumlin Integrated College was being ear-marked for closure I called for a proper consultation be carried out before any final decision is taken so that all parents of existing pupils and future pupils and future parents are given the opportunity to have their views heard.
I am therefore delighted that the NEELB has listened and decided to delay a closure decision. I congratulate the parents and pupils for the work they have put in to ensure the school remains open.
There is no question that great improvements have been made since the last inspection report and I am convinced that the School can have a bright future if it is given a chance.”
