Danny Kennedy, Ulster Unionist MLA for Newry and Armagh, has condemned those who left a suspicious object close to the North-South electricity interconnector.
Mr Kennedy said:
“It is unbelievable that in the year 2013, there are still those so attached to republican ideology of 1916, that they actually believe that attacking a cross border interconnector will get them closer to a United Ireland.
“Their ideology is redundant, their goal is redundant and once the police and intelligence services catch up with them, their terrorist careers will be redundant, and they will have plenty of time at Her Majesty`s pleasure to think about the futility of their actions.
“I would appeal for anyone with information about those that have carried out this attack on the Northern Ireland economy, to contact the PSNI as soon as possible.”
