Overend condemns anti-social behaviour in Maghera

Ulster Unionist Assembly Member for Mid-Ulster, Sandra Overend, has condemned a spate of incidents of anti-social behaviour in Maghera, including a number of graffiti attacks on Maghera Police station and in the surrounding area, as well as evidence of drug taking, solvent abuse and outdoor drinking.

Mrs Overend said,

“I was disappointed to learn of reports of anti-social behaviour in Maghera, including three incidents of graffiti attacks on Maghera PSNI station in the past week. The PSNI have also reported finding a number of items pointing to a wider anti-social behaviour issue when investigating these incidents, including evidence of drug use, solvent abuse, and outdoor drinking.

“I condemn this sort of behaviour - the police provide a service for the entire community, and the neighbouring leisure centre is used by all of the people of Maghera, who do not support this type of aggravation.

“I have been in touch with the PSNI in the area who undertaking a proactive investigation into all of these incidents, and I would add to their appeal for anyone with any information to report it to the police on 0845 600 8000 in order to help them in their investigations.”
