Elliott appalled at some District Electoral area recommendations

Tom Elliott MLA, Ulster Unionist Environment spokesperson, has hit out at some of the recommendations contained in the District Electoral Commissioner`s Report on the grouping of electoral wards.

Mr Elliott said:

“I am appalled at some of the recommendations contained within the District Electoral Areas Commissioner`s report which was issued today. Some of these recommendations are not a good deal for democracy or Unionism.

“There is no reasoning behind their conclusions and I fail to understand how they have reached some of them. I will look in detail at the individual Assistant Commissioners` reports to try and see what the rationale was for some of the nonsensical changes which they have recommended.

“I have also asked for an urgent meeting with DEA Commissioner, Richard McKenzie and will consider further actions that may be available.”
