Michael McGimpsey, Ulster Unionist MLA for South Belfast and the party`s DCAL spokesperson, has condemned those who exploded a bomb near Belfast`s Metropolitan Arts Centre.
Mr McGimpsey said:
“Attacking the heart of a City and attacking its nightlife are the actions of cowards. It was only for the swift actions of the Police that prevented death or injury to men, women and children.
“Those responsible are pathetic individuals and are the enemies of all the people of Belfast. They need to learn fast that exploding a bomb in Belfast`s Cathedral Quarter to disrupt the life of the City Centre and attacking Christmas celebrations will not advance their cause one iota.
“Soon enough the Police and intelligence services will catch up with them and they`ll have plenty of time to think about the consequences of their actions. If anyone has any information, I would appeal for them to contact the PSNI as soon as possible.”
