Mivan deal a silver lining in a very dark cloud - Kinahan

Ulster Unionist Party MLA for South Antrim, Danny Kinahan, says that news of Newry construction firm MJM Marine buying the assets belonging to Mivan in Antrim, is a silver lining in a very dark cloud.

Mr Kinahan:

“Today’s news that the Newry firm, MJM group have bought the Mivan Factory and its assets, bringing 40 and 50 jobs back to the Greystone Road, is a silver lining in a very dark cloud that has been hanging over Antrim for the past few weeks.”

It was evident from the Administrators Deloitte last week that there were a number of parties with an interest in various or all parts of Mivan, and it was regrettable that no deal could be struck at the time.  I am pleased however, that a firm with a global reputation such as MJM has recognised the importance of the Mivan brand and the firm’s presence over many years in both national and international markets.

My office in Antrim is currently working with relevant agencies to ensure that they allocate the required resources locally needed to provide all the help and support possible to the former employees of Mivan.”
