McGimpsey welcomes Minister’s assurance on siting of new primary school on Belfast City Hospital land.

Ulster Unionist Assembly Member for South Belfast Michael McGimpsey has welcomed assurances today from the Health Minister that the Belfast City Hospital site will be made available for the new consolidated primary school in South Belfast.

The meeting which was held today in Stormont with the Health Minister Edwin Poots, Michael McGimpsey MLA and Councillor Bobby Stoker, included Ernie Corbett of the Sandy Row Community Forum Chairman and Harry Todd of the Donegall Pass Community Forum Chairman. Concerns which had been raised by the local community on the location of the new primary school were discussed.


In a statement following the meeting, Mr McGimpsey said,


“The meeting today was very constructive, and I stand alongside Councillor Stoker, Ernie and Harry in saying that we welcome the Minister’s assurance that the Belfast City Hospital site will be available for the new primary school. This good news is an opportunity to improve on the educational attainment and health among the well deserving children of the Sandy Row, Donegall Pass and Donegall Road/Village.”
