Elliott pays tribute to State Pathologist, Professor Jack Crane, on his Retirement

Ulster Unionist Justice spokesperson, Tom Elliott MLA has paid tribute to Professor Jack Crane who retired after 24 years as Northern Ireland State Pathologist. During his tenure Professor Crane dealt with some of the worst atrocities that occurred during the troubles.

Mr Elliott said:

"I am only too aware of the expertise shown by Jack Crane throughout his career, including dealing with the aftermath of bombs and murders, including the 1987 Enniskillen bomb, the 1993 Shankill bomb and more recently the 1998 Omagh bomb.

“His replacement will certainly have a difficult act to follow. He has elevated the Northern Ireland State Pathologist’s Department to one of the leading departments in that field throughout the world, which was largely due to his personal leadership and professionalism.

“I wish him a long and happy retirement and we should all acknowledge the huge contribution which he has made over the past 24 years and trust that a suitable successor can be appointed as soon as possible."
