Jim Nicholson, Ulster Unionist MEP, has condemned those who racially abused Anna Lo MLA following her comments on the Giro D’Italia.
Mr Nicholson said:
“The racist abuse aimed at Anna Lo on social media sites is disgraceful and totally unacceptable. I know that the great majority of people will condemn these comments but the minority who carried out this abuse bring shame on Northern Ireland and this behaviour should not be tolerated.
“As we approach the Giro D’Italia, which provides an opportunity to show the world that Northern Ireland is an inclusive and welcoming place to visit, these comments are damaging for our reputation. We should all stand with Anna to help stamp out racism in our society.’
