The Ulster Unionist Party's South Belfast MLA Michael McGimpsey has said he is “pleased” with the progress that is being made for the new consolidated primary school in South Belfast.
Speaking following a meeting with the Belfast Education and Library Board, Mr McGimpsey said;
"I, alongside local Councillor Bob Stoker and Sandy Row Community Forum Chairman Ernie Corbett met with the BELB Chief Executive Dr Clare Mangan.
"The meeting was very successful and I am extremely pleased with the progress that has been made for the provision of the new primary school on the Belfast City Hospital site.
"The decision that has been made by the Minister for Health Edwin Poots, to again make this site available, means that the BELB is now in a position to work with the Department in moving plans for the new primary school forward.
"We have come a long way in securing a site for the new primary school, and there is no doubt we still have a way to go before it is up and running. However, the length that we travel now will be worth the high quality of education our children deserve.”
