Overend welcomes progress on Desertcreat College

Ulster Unionist MLA Sandra Overend has welcomed the announcement that the Department of Finance & Personnel has approved the business case for the Emergency Services Training College at Desertcreat near Cookstown.
The Mid-Ulster representative said;
“It has been almost a decade since this project was first mooted and today’s news is long-overdue and will be welcomed throughout the Mid-Ulster area.
I recently met with the Cookstown Chamber of Commerce and one of the issues which they highlighted was the need to get some clarity on when the Desertcreat project would be taken forward.
Our Emergency Services deserve state of the art facilities in which to train. Now that the DfP have approved the business case it is imperative that we move as quickly as possible to negotiate the planning process and get to work on building this long-awaited and much-needed facility.”
