Alderman Mary Hamilton expresses sympathies to familes of Hyde Park bombing victims

Alderman Mary Hamilton, injured in the Claudy bombing, has expressed her sympathy to the families of the Hyde Park bombing victims.

Speaking after hearing of the collapse of the case involving a suspect in the bombing, Alderman Mary Hamilton said:

"I can only imagine the families must be devastated at this cruel twist in events. To be looking at justice falling apart is heart breaking for them when they expected to have some form of closure.

“In our own fight for justice for the Claudy bombing families, I can only think of how we would feel if we got to the steps of the court only to be sent home to continue the wondering and grieving. Justice must be there for us all. People who commit heinous crimes must be brought before the courts. The powers that be must work with the people on the ground in ensuring this happens."
