Nesbitt says Programme for Government "falls far short!

Ulster Unionist Economy spokesperson,Mike Nesbitt, says Stormont’s latest draft Programme for Government falls far short of what’s required. The Strangford MLA was commenting after a former Presbyterian Moderator, Dr Norman Hamilton, described the draft Programme as not going far enough.Mr Nesbitt said: “From what we know, this draft Programme would barely rate a two out of ten. It’s deficient, it lacks ambition, it's missing vision. Worse, it’s doesn’t address the needs of real people seeking help.  “Northern Ireland is facing serious economic challenges, and that requires real leadership and direction. It is past time we started grasping nettles, making difficult decisions, and putting our own jobs on the line, in defence of those who are losing theirs.
"Our Finance Minister, Sammy Wilson, seems overly eager to protect the four-year Budget he negotiated in the Spring. As the Department of Enterprise delegation to the DETI Committee suggested last week, that was then and this is now. We need to start delivering Common Sense Government, which means more that a wishlist of poorly developed ideas that will fail this community.“The current PfG falls far short of what’s required and needs to be beefed up substantially. Whole sections of our community are suffering and they demand concrete steps to help them out of this economic quagmire.
“As an Ulster Unionist who pointed out the wisdom of agreeing a Programme for Government before forming the 2011 Executive, I take no pleasure in seeing our vision vindicated. We have ideas that are worth examining but neither the DUP nor Sinn Fein will consider them as to do so would expose their lack of weakness and inability to deal with the economic crisis”.
