Ulster Unionist ‘Think Pink’ for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The Ulster Unionist Party has shown their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month at Stormont today.  Breast Cancer charities use the month of October to heighten awareness of the disease and to raise money to help fight cancer in the year ahead.

UUP Health spokesperson, John McCallister MLA commented;

“The Ulster Unionist Party will be using the month of October to encourage everyone in Northern Ireland to check themselves regularly for the signs of breast cancer.  Early detection of breast cancer will help to save lives and as someone is diagnosed with the disease every ten minutes in the United Kingdom it is vital that you check yourself regularly.’

“And it’s not just women who are at risk from breast cancer, 300 men are diagnosed in the UK each year.  I hope that the ‘Think Pink’ campaign this month will increase personal awareness among men and women across Northern Ireland and, as a result, that lives will be saved.”
“We would also use this time to give our thanks to all the doctors, nurses, cancer charities and volunteers who work tirelessly to help beat cancer.’
