Job losses at Fivemiletown Creamery would be a blow to the entire community - Elliott

Ulster Unionist MLA, Tom Elliott, has said the news of potential job losses at Fivemiletown Creamery is a huge blow to the staff, the milk suppliers and the entire community.

Mr Elliott said:

“The news of potential job losses at this dairy business, which has been in existence for well over 100 years is very demoralising for the entire community.

“While the exact reasons for the news is not known, the outcome could be disastrous for the entire community, but especially for approximately 50 staff and 60 milk suppliers.

“The Creamery in Fivemiletown has been a very successful business for many years, winning award after award. It has also provided a very steady form of employment for people in the surrounding area and has had a great relationship with the dairy farmers that have been supplying the milk to the mainly cheese making plant.

“I trust this business can be saved and production continue at the factory. I have asked for discussions with the management and hope they can take place in the near future.”
