Ulster Unionist Culture spokesperson Michael McGimpsey has expressed his sadness on hearing of the death of writer and broadcaster Sam McAughtry.
The South Belfast MLA said;
“I am very sad to learn that Sam McAughtry has passed away. Sam was a personal friend of many years and we worked together and with others in campaigning for peace, including as part of the Peace Train organisation.
“He was a proud son of Tiger’s Bay and never lost touch with his roots. The Northern Ireland Arts scene is a much poorer place today, and I extend my sympathies to his family circle and his many friends.”
