Ulster Unionist Policing Board member, Ross Hussey MLA, has voiced his concerns that the Desertcreat Emergency Services college project has been put on hold.
Mr Hussey said:
“I am very concerned at any delays to proceed to complete this project. We simply cannot continue with this stop start approach and the organisations involved - PSNI, the Prison Service and Fire & Rescue Service all need clarity.
"It is essential that we have a state of the art training facility for our emergency service personnel. As a member of the Policing Board I have been acutely aware of the inadequacies of the existing Police Training College at Garnerville and I know only too well just how badly needed the Desertcreat facility is.
"I will do all in my power to ensure that the project is re-assessed and driven forward, so that our emergency services get the training college they deserve and the people of Northern Ireland benefit from this facility for decades to come.”
