Nicholson votes to end roaming charges throughout Europe

Ulster Unionist MEP Jim Nicholson has today voted to bring an end to mobile roaming charges throughout Europe.

Mr Nicholson said

“I am delighted that from 15th December 2015, making a phone call or sending a text message or email abroad will cost the same as doing so at home. Thanks to EU legislation, the cost of phone calls and text messages has dropped by 80%, and data roaming by 91% since 2007. This morning Members of the European Parliament overwhelmingly voted to approve this new legislation which will abolish roaming costs completely.

“It is great news that tourists will no longer be shocked with high phone bills upon arriving home from holiday.”
