Nicholson and Kinahan welcome Schrader Electronics jobs announcement

Ulster Unionist representatives Jim Nicholson MEP and Danny Kinahan MLA have welcomed the announcement by Schrader Electronics that it is to create 241 additional jobs at its sites at Antrim and Carrickfergus.

Mr Nicholson said:

“Schrader Electronics already makes a significant contribution to the local economy, exporting globally and investing heavily in research and innovation and today’s announcement regarding further expansion is therefore great news.

“This investment is a huge boost to the economy and in recent years I have worked closely with local businesses to help ensure they can make the most of the opportunities within the EU and further afield. The growth of Schrader Electronics shows what is possible.”

South Antrim MLA Danny Kinahan also welcomed the news.

Mr Kinahan said:

“Today’s job announcement is a welcome boost for the local economy and is great news for both Antrim and Carrickfergus.  As a south Antrim representative, I know all too well of the devastating impact of recent job losses caused by the demise of Mivan just a few months ago.

“Schrader is a very well respected company which has been in Antrim for many years and these new jobs are a vote of confidence in the local area and a reward for the hard work and professionalism shown by the workforce over the years.”
