If Sinn Fein have any evidence to back up their claims of a ‘cabal’ then bring it to the Policing Board – Ross Hussey

Ulster Unionist Policing Board member, Ross Hussey MLA, has stated that if Sinn Fein have any evidence to back up their allegations of a ‘cabal’ in the police, then they should call an emergency meeting of the Policing Board tomorrow.

Mr Hussey said:

"If Martin McGuinness has any evidence to back up his claims of a ‘cabal’ of police officers acting against Sinn Fein, then he should give it to his colleague, Gerry Kelly for him to call an emergency meeting of the Policing Board tomorrow.

"If Gerry Adams has any complaints beyond the food in Antrim Police Station then he should lodge them immediately with the Police Ombudsman.

“There are three Sinn Fein members of the Policing Board and I have never heard mention by them of fears or concerns of this ‘cabal’ - perhaps the Sinn Fein Press Office hadn't dreamt it up on Thursday when the Board last met.”

“Slurs on the PSNI and RUC should not be used in this clumsy political attempt to interfere with policing - any citizen has a moral obligation to support law and order and cannot pick and choose on the conditions that apply at the time.

“There is certainly a cabal at work here and that is the Republican cabal attempting to blacken the PSNI for having the courage to question a prominent Republican.

“Law must be seen to be applied to all fairly and justly. Nobody is above it or beyond it.”
