Ulster Unionist MEP Jim Nicholson has welcomed news that Northern Ireland has been selected as a European Entrepreneurial Region 2015.
Mr Nicholson said:
“Along with Lisbon and Valencia, Northern Ireland has been named European Entrepreneurial Region 2015. Our strategies to promote entrepreneurship and spread innovation among small and medium enterprises (SMEs) led to us being deemed a winning region by a panel made up of representatives of the EU institutions, in addition to business associations.
“The awards ceremony took place yesterday in Brussels, and I am delighted that my Party colleague, Alderman Arnold Hatch, President of the NI Local Government Association, was present to accept the award for Northern Ireland.
“Winning this award is a huge achievement for Northern Ireland PLC, and I will continue to do all that I can to support SMEs in my role as a Member of the European Parliament.”
