Kinahan condemns attack on Castlerobin Orange Hall

The Ulster Unionist Party’s South Antrim MLA Danny Kinahan has condemned an attack on a south Antrim Orange Hall - in which pro-IRA graffiti was painted on the walls - as a hate-crime designed to whip up community tensions.

Mr Kinahan said:

"Sadly this is the latest in a depressingly long list of attacks on Orange Halls in the south Antrim area.

“I have been consistent in my condemnation of all types of attacks on property, whether on Orange halls, GAA halls or Churches and places of worship of any denomination. They are all sectarian hate crimes and have no place in our society.

“The people responsible are seeking to whip up sectarian tensions and exploit divisions within society. They must not be allowed to succeed and the entire community must reject them as we seek to build the shared future which ensures everyone’s rights, heritage and culture is respected.

“I appeal for anyone who can help the Police to catch those responsible, to please come forward immediately.”
